Night At The Dogs 2018

Night at the Dogs Fundraiser

25 May 2018 - Newbridge Greyhound Track

As you will be aware, the Parents Association and Board of Management have been working together to find a better hand-drying solution for the children of Scoil Bhríde.

All agreed that the current use of domestic hand towels in bathrooms is not adequate.  Two options were short-listed:  paper towels in dispensers and electric hand dryers.  Although the initial costs for the paper towels option is lower,  electric dryer were chosen for their long-term benefits for our school.  Much research was carried out on both options - we looked at installation costs, running costs, environmental impact, noise levels, energy ratings and hygiene reports.  Electric hand dryers were the chosen solution for us.

Next step...?  We needed to raise the funds to pay for purchase and installation of these dryers: -

Step forward Karen Mulvey and her fantastic group of Parent Association volunteers!

Karen and her Team set about organising a fundraising "Night at the Dogs" to raise the necessary funds to cover the above work.  They booked Newbridge Dog Track, secured Race Sponsors, Advertisers, Donations, Raffle Prizes and sold tickets to our Scoil Bhríde families.  Karen asked that the exceptionally generous support of Sponsors, Advertisers, Raffle Prize donors and Anonymous Donors be acknowledged and thanked - we echo and support these thanks!

The support of families buying tickets to this night was superb too - thank you to every individual and family who bought a ticket.  To the families who came along to Newbridge Dog track on the night - a sincere and heartfelt thank you.  You made the atmosphere on the night fun-filled and exciting.

Total profit raised was €5,539....W.O.W.!

This money will, in it's entirety, pay for the purchase and installation of hand dryers in Scoil Bhríde.  Electricians have been booked and installation will be carried out over the Summer break.

To Karen & the Parent Association Team:

We know that so much work is done, year round, by you on our behalf.   We know that, in addition to the work we see (bag packing, Winter Fair, Sports Days, Grandparents Day, Easter Egg Hunts, Coffee Mornings and other fund-raisers), so much more of this work is done quietly, behind the scenes - planning, researching, testing, presenting, building, painting, sticking, glue-ing, cutting, etc.

Thank you sincerely - from ALL OF US!
