Cross Country April 2017

Cross Country Success

Cumann na mBunscol Kildare Cross Country

Scoil Bhríde had two teams representing the school in the recent Cumann Na mBunscol Cross Country competition in Hawkfield GAA Centre of Excellence on 6th April.

There were large fields in all races, with over 100 children competing in each.

Our Girls Team, comprised of Anna White, Anna Kelly, Sophia Deasy, Kate Murphy, Laura Halford, Lorna Manley and Ava Finnegan, performed extremely well to finish in the top 5, although just outside the medal positions.

Anna White (4th class) led the team home, finishing in 6th position overall, which was an excellent result considering the girls were up against competition from children in 3rd - 6th class from schools all over Kildare.

The Boys Team of Conor Flynn, Matthew Deasy, Daniel Cox, Ben O'Connor, Patrick McGreevy, Barry Lyons and Eoghan Dunne ran a superb race, all packing together from the start and finishing really strongly. Their excellent teamwork and hard efforts were rewarded with a place on the podium, with Scoil Bhride finishing in 3rd place overall - again with a relatively young team compared to some of the other schools.

The boys and girls did themselves and their School extremely proud. Thank you to all the Teachers and parent, Paul Archbold, for their work in supporting the two teams over the past few months.
