Scooter Parking Bay

We say: "Please Park your Scooters" They say: "Where?" We say: "In our new Scooter Park!" Horray, our new Scooter Park has arrived and was officially opened today by its first two customers! Eoin Smith from Mrs. Marshall's 4th Class and Cillian Hughes from Ms. Tennyson's 2nd Class. While Cillian is a seasoned-scooter user, by coincidence, today was Eoin's first time to use his scooter to get to school ! Both boys were delighted with the new facility and have given it "Thumbs Up"!

Cumann na mBunscol Boys Gaelic Football

The Cumann na mBunscol boys football leagues are due to commence shortly for Senior boys (5th &6th class) and Under10 Boys (born 2008). Training for Senior boys(5th &6th class) will take place on Monday evenings from 3pm-4pm starting Monday 12th March. Training for U10 boys will take place on Tuesday evenings from 3pm-4pm starting Tuesday 20th March. (deferred one week as Confirmations are on the 13th March). All players must wear Gum shields to training and games. School tracksuits/shorts and football boots are fine for training. We will be asking for the support of parents to assist with transport to away games. Further details will be sent out when the matches are confirmed with the schoo

**UPDATE** OPEN Friday 9th March

In light of the recent disruption to school schedule, we have postponed the Staff training day, which was due to take place this Friday, 9th March. Apologies, as this is a change to our school email which issued yesterday, Sunday 4th March. We are anxious to avoid further disruption to your children's routine. SCHOOL OPEN FRIDAY 9TH MARCH

School Re-Opens

Following an improvement in weather conditions, we are delighted to confirm that Scoil Bhríde will re-open tomorrow morning, Monday 5th March. Doors open: 9:00, school starts 9:15a.m. Huge thanks are due to the fantastic group of Parents and children who volunteered to work so hard to clear the school paths and drop off zone on Sunday morning - even clearing the path to as far as the "Pink House" on the corner. Thank you so much one and all! Welcome back!!

Congratulations Miah!

Our 4th class student, Miah Byrne represented Ireland in the ‘Gold Girl Boxing Championships’ held in Sweden in early February. Miah travelled to Sweden with the club for 5 days and was very successful! She represented Ireland in the under 30KG bouts taking part in 2 fights against France where she won gold ! A huge achievement for a young girl, our very own up and coming ‘Katie Taylor’!

Child Safeguarding Statement

In accordance with the requirements of the Children First Act 2015. the Board of Management of Scoil Bhríde has adopted the new child protective procedures. A copy of the statement is available from the Office or to view here: Statement Designated Liaison Person on all child protection issues: Principal, Kate Gallagher, Deputy Designated Liaison Person: Deputy Principal, Margaret Ryan. As mentioned in our last newsletter the procedures for child safeguarding are being enacted fully in March 2018. To facilitate training of all staff Scoil Bhríde will close on Friday 9th March (the DES has now sanctioned one full days closure rather than 2 ½ days as previously advised).

Swimming: 2nd Class and 3rd Class

Swimming classes resumed on Thursday 22nd February. Our 2nd and 3rd Classes will be attending lessons for 6 weeks. Swimming is an element of the Primary School P.E. Curriculum and is obligatory for all students. Class notes have been sent out with all the details for the current participating students. Please ensure your child wears their Tracksuit on Swim day. Confirmation - 13th March 2018

Our 2 sixth classes will make their Confirmation as follows: Date: Tuesday 13th March Time: 11:00am Venue: Cill Mhuire Church Our thanks to their teachers, chaplain and parents who have been helping them to prepare for this faith step. We wish the pupils and all their families a happy & special day.


The Board of Management are following safety notices from the Department of Education and assessing conditions in our local area. We will be making a decision tomorrow, Sunday 4th March, on whether it's safe to open school on Monday 5th March. An email and text will issue tomorrow, Sunday, to advise all parents on our decision.
