St Brigid's Cross

In 2015, the newest classroom (Ms. Cosgrove’s 6th) and the set-down area were built and completed. To make way for the set down area we had to fell some trees including a beautiful cherry blossom tree. This tree was replaced by a cherry tree planted by bishop Denis Nulty in June 2015 near the flagpoles.

The wood trunk from the original cherry blossom tree was taken by expert carpenter and parent Niall Moran. Niall designed and created a beautiful St. Brigid’s cross which was recently erected beside our St. Brigid’s statue. Our sincere thanks to Niall for this beautiful piece which further adds to the beautiful environment of our school.

On Friday 8th February, two of Niall's children, Éabha and Joe, cut the ribbon to officially unveil our new St Brigid's Cross. Staff and pupils gathered around the cross after morning assembly to witness the unveiling. Thank you also to Niall's wife, AnneMarie and daughter Sadie for attending.
