Senior Boys, Division 5

The boys qualified for the Allianz Cumann Na MBunscoil senior boys division 5 final going undefeated in their group with wins over Kilashee & Rahen National Schools and a semi-final victory against Coleragh NS in Allen. These wins were secured by a solid goalkeeper performance and accurate kick out strategy of Sam Sheehan and collectively mean defensive effort from Jamie Nielsen, Niall Barry, Fionn Frisby, Daniel Cox & Jack Fogarty. In midfield Adam Smith and Ben O’ Connor brilliantly linked the backs and forwards unit and the forwards of Conor O’ Donovan, Liam Gorman, Sam Gaine, Corey Ryan & Rian Smithers gave a slick and stylish performance to out score their opponents in all games. The team had a superb back up from a subs bench of Conor Smith, Max Sheehan, Michael Malone, Jim Browne-Geraghty, Joshua O’ Keeffe, Brevin Sourke, Daniel Fox & Adam Kennedy and gave fantastic performances when introduced in games. In the final against Kilashee NS, Athgarvan won with a score of 3-14 to 3-6 and are champions! Athgarvan scored 2 first half goals by Sam Gaine and Liam Gorman but it was their second half performance where they scored 1-10 that the real damage was done. Kilashee fought back but a 1-6 scoring by Athgarvan without reply sealed the win with Liam Gorman getting his second goal as well as scoring 3 points. All players were brilliant, and we are very proud of them all. Our sincere thanks to Síne Smith, Tommy & Gill Gorman, and Derek Gallagher (parents) for their commitment and coaching of these boys. A combined success, well deserved by all.
